Pray First

Before I rise to meet the day,

Before I choose a single way,

Before I speak, decide, or move,

Lord, teach my heart to come to You.

Before my plans begin to grow,

Before I claim what I don’t know,

Before I lean on strength I trust,

Remind me, God, You’re first, You must.

For I have walked in hurried pace,

And tried to win this life’s hard race,

But every step I took alone

Led me from Your guiding throne.

So now I pause… I choose to wait,

I will not rush, I’ll not dictate,

For doors You open stay secure

And paths You lead are always sure.

When fear would push me into haste,

Or pride would whisper, “Do not wait,”

Let wisdom rise and take command:

I seek Your will, not just Your hand.

In quiet prayer, You make things clear,

You calm my doubts, remove my fear,

You shape the path beneath my feet

And turn my trials into peace.

So I will pray before I go,

Before I act, before I know,

For power’s found not in my stride

But walking daily at Your side.

Before I build, before I start,

I lay each burden on Your heart,

And trust that You will lead me through

Because I prayed… and followed You.
