Always Your Shelter

In the hush of morning light, you rise,

With dreams still dancing in your eyes.

I watch you stretch toward skies so wide,

My child, my heart, my boundless pride.

Through scraped-up knees and questions deep,

Through restless nights and lack of sleep,

I’m here – a lighthouse in your storm,

A place where you are safe and warm.

I’ll cheer you on when others doubt,

I’ll lift you up when strength runs out.

In every fall, I’ll help you stand,

With steady voice and outstretched hand.

I won’t mold you in my own design,

But guide your light so it can shine.

Not to be me, but fully you,

With all the wonder you’ll walk through.

And when the world feels far too loud,

When fear wraps tight like heavy shroud,

Just come to me – you’ll always find

A refuge sure, a love that’s kind.

For though you grow and paths may part,

You’ll carry pieces of my heart.

In every breath, in every start,

I’ll love you still, in every part.
