As both a movie goer and Inspirational speaker, I find Thunderbolts (2025) to be a compelling blend of gritty storytelling and profound character development, marking a refreshing turn in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). I found myself fully immersed in the story. I think viewers will relate to at least one if not all of the characters. I highly recommend the film.
Film Review:
Directed by Jake Schreier, Thunderbolts assembles a team of antiheroes—Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko)—under the manipulative guidance of CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus). Their mission: to confront a covert super-soldier program gone awry, leading them into a battle against the formidable Sentry, Bob Reynolds (Lewis Pullman), and his destructive alter ego, the Void.
Critics have lauded the film for its character-driven narrative and emotional depth. Florence Pugh’s portrayal of Yelena stands out, delivering a performance that balances wit and vulnerability. Lewis Pullman’s depiction of Bob Reynolds adds a nuanced layer to the story, exploring themes of trauma and redemption.
While the film’s darker visual palette and some underdeveloped characters have drawn criticism, its grounded approach and emphasis on personal struggles offer a refreshing departure from typical MCU spectacles.
