Seventy Years of Grace
Song: “Another Day Old” by Eddie Dalton
Today I stand where many dream to be,
Upon the summit of seventy years,
Looking back through valleys and mountaintops,
Through laughter, labor, triumph, and tears.
The road has not been mine alone;
Each step was guided by Hands Divine.
The Author of my every breath
Has written each chapter in perfect time.
So first, my grateful heart ascends
To You, O God, my Rock and King.
For every sunrise, every trial,
For every reason still to sing.
You carried me when strength was gone,
You calmed the storms I could not still.
Your mercy met me every dawn,
Your grace has always been my will.
To my beloved Vicki, faithful wife,
My closest friend through every season’s change,
Your love has been my quiet harbor,
Your steadfast heart my greatest gain.
You’ve shared my dreams, endured my fears,
Celebrated victories, soothed the pain.
If I have walked with courage through these years,
Your love has often been the flame.
To my son Ryan, a blessing from above,
Watching you grow has filled my soul with pride.
May wisdom, faith, and strength surround you,
And may God’s favor ever be your guide.
To my grandsons, bright lights of tomorrow,
Your laughter keeps my spirit young.
You are the verses still unfolding
In the family song that’s yet unsung.
May you remember where you’ve come from,
Walk humbly with both grace and might.
Hold fast to truth, cherish your family,
And let God’s Word become your light.
To every member of my family,
Near or far, by birth or heart,
Thank you for the countless memories
That made this life a work of art.
And to my dear and treasured friends,
Whose kindness blessed me through the years,
You have multiplied my joys
And helped me carry every care.
Seventy is not an ending,
Nor merely counting days gone by.
It is a testimony of God’s faithfulness,
A banner lifted to the sky.
For wealth may fade and honors pass,
But faith, hope, and love endure.
The richest life is measured not by years,
But by the hearts we’ve helped secure.
So today I celebrate—not simply age,
But every blessing Heaven gave.
A faithful God. A loving wife.
A son. Grandsons. Family. Friends.
If tomorrow grants me more years to walk,
May every step bring honor to His Name.
And when my final sunset gently comes,
May they say I loved, I served, I trusted,
And I finished well.
