Let God Lead Your Day
Song: “Let GOD Lead Your Day” by The Broken Hallelujah l
Good morning, and welcome to Starting Our Day Together: A Few Minutes To Get The Day Started In The Right Direction.
As we begin this day, I want to encourage you with a simple but powerful thought: Let God lead your day.
Many of us begin our mornings by checking our phones, looking at our calendars, reviewing our schedules, or thinking about all the responsibilities that await us.
Before our feet hit the floor, our minds are already racing with concerns, deadlines, appointments, and challenges.
But what if we started differently?
What if before we allowed the world to tell us what needs to be done, we first allowed God to tell us who we are and how we should approach the day?
The truth is that how we begin our day often determines how we experience our day.
The Psalmist wrote in Psalm 143:8 (ESV):
“Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”
What a beautiful prayer.
Before asking God to solve problems, David asks God to show him the way to go. Before taking action, he seeks direction.
That is wisdom.
Too often we ask God to bless our plans when we should first ask God to guide our plans.
We ask Him to help us accomplish what we have already decided to do rather than asking Him what He wants us to do.
When God leads, we walk with confidence because we know we are following His direction rather than merely pursuing our own desires.
Consider how many frustrations in life come from trying to control everything ourselves.
We want to know the outcome before we take the first step.
We want certainty before we move forward.
We want guarantees before we trust.
But faith doesn’t work that way.
Faith says, “Lord, I may not see the entire path, but I trust the One who does.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Notice the promise.
The Scripture does not say that God will explain everything.
It does not say He will remove every obstacle.
It does not say He will reveal every detail of the future.
It says that He will make our paths straight.
In other words, He will guide us.
He will direct us.
He will lead us.
And that is exactly what we need.
Many years ago, a traveler asked a guide how far ahead his lantern would illuminate the road.
The guide replied, “Only a few steps ahead.”
The traveler was concerned because the journey was long and the darkness was deep.
The guide simply smiled and said, “Take those few steps, and then the light will show you a few more.”
That is often how God works.
He gives enough light for the next step.
Not the next year.
Not the next decade.
The next step.
And when we faithfully take that step, He provides guidance for the one after that.
One of the greatest challenges we face is the temptation to rush ahead of God.
We become impatient.
We want immediate answers.
We want instant solutions.
But God’s timing is often different from ours.
Isaiah 40:31 tells us: “But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Waiting on God is not inactivity.
Waiting on God is trusting that His wisdom exceeds our own.
It is believing that His perspective is greater than ours.
It is understanding that what looks like a delay may actually be divine preparation.
Perhaps today you are facing a difficult decision.
Perhaps you are dealing with uncertainty about your future.
Perhaps you are carrying a burden that seems too heavy to bear.
If so, let me encourage you.
You do not have to carry the weight of figuring everything out by yourself.
God never intended for you to navigate life alone.
Jesus said in Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Notice the invitation.
Come to Me.
Not come to your fears.
Not come to your worries.
Not come to your worst-case scenarios.
Come to Me.
When we place our lives in God’s hands, we discover that His strength is sufficient for every challenge we face.
As you move through this day, I want to challenge you to pause before every major decision.
Before responding in anger, pause and ask God to guide your words.
Before making an important choice, pause and ask God for wisdom.
Before allowing worry to consume your thoughts, pause and remember God’s faithfulness.
Those simple moments of surrender can change the entire direction of your day.
Imagine the difference if every conversation, every decision, every opportunity, and every challenge were approached with the prayer:
“Lord, lead me.”
Not my will.
Not my agenda.
Not my preferences.
Lord, lead me.
When God leads, peace replaces anxiety.
When God leads, purpose replaces confusion.
When God leads, confidence replaces fear.
The circumstances around us may not change immediately, but our perspective changes because we know we are walking with Him.
Today, before you rush into your responsibilities, take a moment to surrender your day to God.
Give Him your plans.
Give Him your concerns.
Give Him your hopes.
Give Him your fears.
Then trust Him to lead.
Remember, you do not need to know everything about tomorrow.
You simply need to trust the God who already does.
Let’s close with this thought: The safest place you can be today is in the center of God’s will.
Not because life will be easy.
Not because challenges will disappear.
But because wherever God leads, His presence goes before you.
And when God leads your day, He also provides the strength, wisdom, and grace you need for every moment of it.
Let us pray.
Heavenly Father,
Thank You for the gift of this new day.
Help us to trust You more than we trust ourselves.
Teach us to seek Your guidance before making decisions and to follow Your direction even when we cannot see the entire path ahead.
Give us wisdom where we need answers, peace where we feel anxious, strength where we feel weak, and courage where we feel uncertain.
May our words, our actions, and our attitudes reflect Your presence in our lives.
Lead us today, Lord. Guide our steps and help us walk in Your will. May we honor You in all that we do.
We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ.
Amen.
Thank you for joining me on Starting Our Day Together: A Few Minutes To Get The Day Started In The Right Direction.
