Another Trip Around the Sun

Another candle flickers bright,

Another year, another light.

A circle traced, a race well run,

Another trip around the sun.

I pause and breathe this borrowed air,

A whispered thanks, a simple prayer.

For every dawn and setting ray,

For mercy new with every day.

I count the blessings, name them true,

The battles lost, the victories too.

Each wrinkle tells of lessons spun,

Another trip around the sun.

I’m older now, but grace runs deep,

The Shepherd’s watch, the Father’s keep.

He charts my course, His will be done,

With every trip around the sun.

So here’s my wish as candles gleam:

To trust Him more, to dare to dream.

To walk in love till race is run,

And thank Him for the rising sun.
