Do Not Have a Short Time View of a Short Term Life

I recently listened to a message from Pastor Ricky Temple of Overcoming By Faith Ministries in Savannah, Georgia. In his message he used the tagline “A Short Time View of a Long-term Life“. When I heard him say this it made me pause a moment to let the statement sink in. Many go through life with this type of mentality. We sacrifice our health, relationships, finances, just to name a few things, for what we can get right now. Immediate gratification seems to “win the day’ when it comes to many of our life choices.

We have to think bigger and don’t let a short-term mindset steal what GOD has planned for our future. Too many of us are living small because we’re thinking short. We make decisions based on what feels good now, what’s easy now, what’s popular now—but God didn’t create you for a moment. He created you for a mission. And missions take time. They require vision. They demand endurance.

One of the greatest traps the enemy sets is getting us to trade our long-term calling for short-term comfort. But look at anyone God used in Scripture—Joseph waited years in prison before the palace. David was anointed king but went back to the field. Even Jesus spent 30 years preparing for a 3-year ministry. Why? Because God works through process. The question is: will you trust Him in the process, or will you settle for what’s quick and easy?

In 2 Corinthians 4:18, Paul says, “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” That’s your challenge—lift your eyes higher. Stop letting temporary pain make you forget permanent purpose. Stop letting today’s frustration rob you of tomorrow’s fruit.

Your life is not just about today’s win or loss. It’s about the legacy you’re building, the lives you’re touching, the faith you’re growing, and the eternity you’re heading toward. So, Think bigger. Pray deeper. Dream wider. And don’t let a short-term view keep you from living the long, powerful, purpose-driven life God designed you to live.
